Plagiarism In Australia Essay

Improved Essays
The act of plagiarism is unforgivable, especially in a college environment. Stealing someone’s ideas and claiming them as one’s own is a guaranteed way to be kicked out of college. I believe that this act is wrong, but sadly it’s this same act that I have committed. My plagiarism charge comes from my Tiwi of Australia case study professor. Professor Proudhon spotted a section in my report that came almost directly from a passage and wasn’t cited correctly. I’m not writing to convince anyone that i’m innocent, but I will say that my plagiarism was not intentional.
When I wrote the report I didn’t exactly understand what plagiarism was. I thought that Plagiarism was simply copy and pasting from a source and trying to lie and say that it was honestly written. I wrote the report using direct quotes and I assumed that changing the paragraphs around and citing the source would give me the right to use the information I had obtained. It wasn’t until Professor Proudhon called me and explained the situation that I realized that plagiarism is stealing anyone's work and claiming as one’s own whether it’s cited or not. My misunderstanding of the word led me to commit the act, Not laziness. The report was written honestly and I put a lot of effort into researching and editing. I thought that using more information directly from my sources would

He told me to redo the assignment or get an incomplete. After going over my first report I concluded that I was in the wrong and redid it. I received a reduced grade, but the report was written in my own words and with information from my sources that were cited appropriately. My professor read the report and checked for plagiarism and found that everything was alright, and all future reports were also checked. This was also my first accusation of plagiarising. All my reports for the Case Study course and the courses I took before were also checked after I submitted them to my

The difference between Plagiarism and Self- Plagiarism is that Plagiarism is a form of academic dishonesty when used someone’s ideas, words or images as one’s own without properly crediting the person or citing the source of information. On the other hand, Self-plagiarism is a form of academic dishonesty by which a student uses an old assignment or part of previous assignment and submits it as new work without citing the original work. I believe self-plagiarism is a violation of academic integrity. As a student, we are encouraged to make our writing unique, original and creative.…

No plagiarism detected We were a high strung group of kids and more often than not my teacher would walk into class with us in tow crying our eyes out for what ever reason. Whether we were stressed out or just having a bad day we never failed to cry at least once a week in AP World History class. Because of this my wonderful teacher came up with a solution. He proposed that since we were a bunch of cry babies who could barely make it through a quiz before the water works started up that everyday at the end of class we would meditate.…

    Arnie's Failing Grade

After reading and thinking carefully about the Unit 2 Case Study, I would rate the four characters in this way: Responsibility for Reggie's failing grade ***************************************** Reggie - 1 (most responsible) Arnie - 2 Sally - 3 Prof. Lovelit - 4 (least responsible) In my view, Reggie is most responsible for his own failing grade, due to his decision to: 1) not do the homework (reading), and 2) willfully take the essay from the internet and plagiarize. Arnie is number two on my list (in Reggie's failing grade), not because he also plagiarized, but because he was complicit in allowing his classmate to plagiarize. Arnie's response should have been to strongly remind a fellow student that plagiarism will only lead to a failing…

Rachel, I enjoyed reading what you wrote about Maureen Dowd. Before starting this week’s assignment, I had not realized how many well known people had committed plagiarism. In the case of Ms. Dowd, it is disappointing to think that she would commit plagiarism whether it was intentional or not. I know strive to be very careful when reading and preparing to write a paper, that I cite all my sources. I remember one time of having to leave some wonderful information out of a paper because I couldn’t find where I had received the information from and I did not want to commit plagiarism.…

In any school you have attended, in pretty much every grade, plagiarism is something a writer should never do under any circumstances. When reading the essay “Something Borrowed,” Malcolm Gladwell gave insight into the flaws of plagiarism that writers may not have thought about before. The first being that plagiarism is never acceptable (927). The second issue with plagiarism is recognizing the differences that can or cannot “inhibit creativity” (931). Being inspired by another person work can help and guide you to build your own ideas but simply taking their work and claiming it as yours is not okay.…

Since the dawn of the computer age, especially the Internet the mis-intent of plagiarism seems to have taken hold of students, which has turned into blatant intent. There also seems to be a lack of education from an early level on plagiarism in the digital age and how to cite all sources. The lack of early education regarding plagiarism, deems the necessity of a plagiarism class at the freshman level of college if not high school.…

My mind was clouded with different emotions and with alternative ways to getting this paper done. I checked the time and I did not have much left, so I started copying and pasting information from a website. After I finished the essay, I immediately ran out of my dorm to my suitemates room so I could print out the paper; without citing where I got most of my information from. After I turned in my paper my professor emailed me and wanted to speak to me in private during her office hours. She proceeded to inform me of the penalties for me turning in a plagiarized paper and I humbly accepted the penalties and returned to my dorm to think about my mistake.…

Not because of any consequence necessarily, but because of the mere idea that my integrity or moral beliefs would be questioned.
