Some High School have very strict guideline when it comes to cheating in school. At Lowell High School, the consequence for cheating is a conference with the student’s parents, a 1-5 day suspension, and they will receive an ‘F’ on their work (Lowell High School). Not all High School are this strict, or the kids cheating are hard to catch. At Hall-Dale High School, the consequences are not as harsh, a first offense means a detention in school, suspension from one game or extracurricular activity, and contact with parents (KidsRSU2). If the offense continues then more severe punishments are taken. In college, if a student is caught cheating severe punishments take place. Punishment includes academic suspension, expulsion, and temporary or permanent transcript notation of plagiarism (Consequences). That is why this increase in technological use to cheat is harmful to students in every grade. It is strongly encouraged to have a known and enforced honor system in schools, as to remind kids there are consequences for cheating (KeepKids).
