Life is the hardest obstacle anyone will ever face, it is inevitable yet completely unpredictable. Even though we cannot predict the future we can gather information from how we live our lives to form an idea of what the future may hold. Over thirty years ago I never would have imagined technology controlling our lives to the extent it does today in 2055. Virtual reality has become a huge factor in everyone’s lives today simply by a chip placed inside of us. Thankful to Plato’s theory of the cave we are able to set limitations to virtual reality. Humans are the only ones with the ability to deny the greater power because their brains are under control of the greater power. The Placebo theory and the imagination within you is how you determine the difference from virtual reality to

To fully experience a feeling someone has to have all five senses. If someone lacks a sense they cannot experience a feeling to the same degree as a person who has all of their senses. Without your senses you cannot develop feelings towards something or someone. In real life you can feel everything both mentally and physically, yet in virtual reality you can only experience things mentally. Virtual reality is all in ones head, you create your own virtual reality and what you want you get. Even though you get what you want in virtual reality you cannot experience it to the extent that you would in real life because you’re missing your senses of touch, smell and taste. In real life if you’re in a physical fight with someone it will hurt mentally yes, but you will not be able to feel it physically. You will know it is happening because you can see it but when they hit you it does not affect you in the same way as if you could feel it. With that being said you cannot enjoy all of your senses unless you have

The problem of scepticism comes to the conclusion that we do not know of our creation or existence, nor can we know. This assignment will dispute against scepticism in reference to the “Brain in a Vat” argument. This proposes that we are brains in vats which are connected up to an exceptionally sophisticated life force, in this case a computer, that somehow has the ability to counterfeit our experiences of the external world, deceiving us of what we thought to be reality. This argument of course, is highly plausible as we can never know confidently that what we understand to be reality isn’t a simulation.…

The experiment “A Class Divided” was performed in order to prove that prejudice and stereotypes can influence a “superior” group’s opinion on an “inferior” group, and in this specific experiment, the discrimination was based on two different eye colors of a group of elementary school students. And sadly, the outcome verified the hypothesis, as the experimenter Jane Elliott witnessed a group of “marvelous, cooperative, wonderful, thoughtful children turned to nasty, vicious, discriminating third-graders.” On the first day of the experiment, Jane Elliott first set up the discrimination between blue-eyed superior and brown-eyed inferior. And by which she meant that the blue-eyed get extra recess, can drink water directly from the water fountain, can have seconds at lunch and can play anytime on the playground equipment; while the brown-eyed must only use a paper cup to drink from the fountain, may not play with blue-eyed children and must stay off the playground equipments.…

In the novel Brave New World written by Aldous Huxley, he warns readers about the scientific advances and how they can be a threat to the society. This is evident in biology, technology, and psychology. According to Huxley, "The theme of Brave New World is not the advancement of science as such; it is the advancement of science as it affects human individuals." One the many scientific advances is biology. The mass production of humans is accomplished with the Bokanovsky process.…

The Ethics of conducting a placebo-controlled trial when there are effective treatments available, particularly for serious or life threatening diseases, has been debated over the years. The Declaration of Helsinki states that the benefits, risks, burdens and effectiveness of a new intervention must be tested against the best current proven intervention. The exception is when there is no effective treatment available, when the potential harm to subjects receiving no treatment is not serious or irreversible. For this reason, conducting placebo-controlled studies for life-threatening diseases in developing countries is considered unethical.…
