Pixar's Argumentative Essay

Even though Jobs was a hopeless wreck without Apple, he still loved what he did. He could still pursue his vision and passion with technology. Better yet, he could create even more extraordinary products. With that in mind, Jobs decided to start another company called “NeXT” (134). Jobs then decided to move on forward with his life and sold almost all of his shares but one he had with Apple (135). That one share left was intended for Jobs to go to the shareholder meetings if he wanted to. Jobs also bought a small company maker of computer graphics equipment called “Pixar” from George Lucas, the filmmaker of the popular movie series Star Wars. Nonetheless, both companies Jobs owned would end up struggling for the new few years to find their …show more content…
NeXT and Pixar were coming close to a failure but, Jobs was not willing to suffer another defeat (143). There was still a ray a hope for the corporations. The Walt Disney Company had taken notice of Pixar and took an interest in it by funding a full length animated feature film that Pixar would create (144). Pixar had then created the idea of a story about toys called Toy Story. The production of the animated movie Pixar was making was going well until Disney decided to shut down the production immediately after they saw the rough version of the movie (150). Disney demanded Pixar that they either change the story to their likings or they would not have a movie. It was a setback for not only the employees at Pixar but, also for Jobs since he had to stand behind the company to keep paying them during the shutdown. The shutdown also caused Jobs to admit defeat with his company NeXT and was then out of business (153). Jobs’ dream of building another great company was withered away. Many people who once looked up to Jobs started turning away from him, calling him a “flameout” (158). Jobs being stuck in his lows, tried to find a way
