I really enjoyed Sandra Cisneros reading of her memoir, A House of My own. I enjoyed this performance for numerous reasons. Firstly, because it was a chapter that was very fresh and clear in my mind. Whilst watching Sandra read her written words out loud I felt as if I could see my own book in front of me and read the words along with her. Furthermore, in spite of the fact that I love writing and there are certain genres and authors that I can genuinely enjoy reading, I am a very poor reader.…

When you think about the 20’s, you probably imagine a lavish party and women in beaded dresses. The book The Great Gatsby by F. Scott Fitzgerald rotates around the life of a man new to New York and is just getting used to the partying scene. In this journal I will be arguing why this book deserves a grade of 8.5 out of 10, the first reason because it takes a while for the plot to get moving, the second reason because it has good word choice, and the third reason because it has good character development. Firstly, I docked this book a point and a half because it has a very slow moving plot.…

Self-discipline was hard to overcome because I would rather go out to hang out with friends instead of doing homework. There were some days that I would stay up until two o’clock the next morning more doing homework for class. Time management wasn’t an easy obstacle to accomplish due to that there was no set schedule for me to complete the necessary tasks, such as homework for either English or AAA 109. I improved my student habits by using a day planner to set time aside to do certain assignments for school and prioritize non-related school tasks. I do homework first before going out with my friends.…
