Don’t Bully a Breed
The media has given pit bulls a bad reputation and states have begun to support Breed Specific Legislation laws (BSL), but there are many owners who raised their pit bull breeds in correct environments resulting in strong, loyal, and sweet lap-dogs. Although pit bulls have had a few issues that caused deaths or injuries on others, banning pit bulls does not change the fact that all breeds have had incidents of attacking humans and animals. Pit bulls have a history that leads to their companionship, loyalty, and easygoing nature.

Most of the public would agree and argue that because of the breads history of aggressiveness, pit bulls cannot be trusted no matter what. This negative image can be refuted with many examples. Pit bulls have left their marks in history in positive ways in America. Pit bulls were family pets of settlers crossing into the United States in the 19th century. Parents trusted the breeds to watch over their children. Pit bulls were also trained in multiple service positions. From now and then, they are used at seeing dogs, rescue dogs, drug dogs, and even therapy pets. A great example is Stubby the pit bull terrier of World War I.. He was the first dog to be given a rank in the US Army. He was promoted to Sergeant by the commander of his infantry for heroic deeds such as sniffing out deathly gases, located wounded soldiers and even catching a German spy mapping out the layout of Allied trenches. …show more content…
It is solely up to the owner who adopts the dog to raise them correctly. Regardless of what breed a dog is, they should not be blamed for their genetic makeup.
