Did you know that Pit Bulls are known as the “Jews of the canine world?” (Ingall). Pits bulls are hated for faulty reasoning, giving them the title of the “Jews of the canine world” (Ingall). There are many stereotype of pit bulls that lead to peoples reasoning for such hatred; they are unpredictable, dangerous, and vicious. Pit Bulls were originally breed to take down large animals, bulls in particular. When bull baiting became, illegal people turned to dog fighting, that is where Pit Bulls reputation came from. This can be supported by the large number of pit bull attacks, their appearance, and their past history. It is true that pit bulls are known more for being vicious in nature and that they are more accredited with attacking people and other animals. Yet, the stereotypes of pit bull are completely unnecessary. While people claim that Pit bulls attack more often this is not the case. Pit bulls may seem to be more dangerous but that’s because society is uninformed of the truth. Pit bulls have an attack rate lower than the chow-chow, and the Chihuahua but Pit Bulls attacking makes for a better headline in the media. Pit bulls may appear aggressive due to their powerful build, strong stature, broad heads, and confident walks. But since when is appearance enough to dictate a living being’s judgment? Pit bulls are courageous, strong willed, loyal, and honorable creatures who were once companions of World War I veterans. Fighting alongside people as the protectors of America, yet those very same people are the one who put such shame and degradation of the name of pit bulls. The very same people who find it fair to judge a living being by only their appearance, saying they are not trustworthy and dangerous.
