Pit Bull Movement

I support the Pit Bull Movement to aid in rescue and to educate people about these dogs and how loving they can be. The news and media have made these dogs look like beasts of terror when it was most likely the result of poor ownership. I want to share my story of how I came face to face with said beasts and all I got was a mountain of kisses, never ending love, and constant companionship. I grew up in a house where moving was a constant and the thought of having a dog was forbidden. My father never had animals growing up – this is where the forbidden part came from. As a child all I wanted was a dog. The only animal I had as a child was a tabby cat named Fatty – he weighed over twenty pounds so the name was fitting. We had Fatty until I was …show more content…
I was raised in a family where everyone smoked cigarettes it was normal and accepted. As a child, I was never told it was bad or harmful to my health. Both of my parents smoked cigarettes throughout my childhood. I was frequently exposed to secondhand smoke. As I got older and anti-smoking ads got more popular my parents changed where and how they smoked. In the car they would roll down not just there window, but the others windows as well to help vent. They stopped smoking inside the house. Before the ban on smoking inside restaurants when we would go out to eat we sat in the non- smoking section. Growing up with uncontrolled asthma these changes were well welcomed. Cigarette smoke was one of my most recurring triggers for my asthma attacks. My asthma has affected many aspects in my life. There are many things I cannot do or partake in due to a flair up. I do believe my unwanted exposure to second hand smoke has helped me not become a cigarette smoker. My parents still to this day smoke and every time I see them I try to remind them why they should not do it. My grandmother is probably the most influential reason for me to refrain from smoking. She was a three pack a day smoker, who at times would forget about a lit cigarette and light another. My grandmother smoked for fifty three years until she had her first heart attack. Her arteries were so damaged from smoking and poor diet she had to have a triple bypass surgery to repair it. She quit smoking cold turkey after the surgery and has not smoked a cigarette since that day. I am so proud of her for making the decision for her health. All these reasons are why I am an advocate of the anti-smoking precautions the government has done to try to protect the public’s health even if it is just a lit

Even if the shelter does decide to continue to not adopt out Pit Bulls, there are other options than euthanization. For instance, there are numerous rescue centers that will take in dogs deemed ‘vicious,’ like Pits Bulls, to keep them from being killed. One of these rescue centers is located in North Carolina. Fortitudine Vincimus Rescue Center, also known as “The Fort” was founded by Jake Gardner in 2012. According to Judi Brinegar’s article (2014), “Pit Bull Rescue Seeks Help,” “The Fort" is a nonprofit, no-kill rescue dedicated to alleviating the suffering of all animals, in particular the American Pit Bull Terrier”(Brinegar, para. 2).…

Many people only see them as mean, dangerous animals. They blame the dogs’ behavior based on the few pit bulls they see on the news for “attacking” someone. Pit bulls are not naturally mean-natured dogs.…

There are many people that believe the myths that are out in the world about Pit Bulls but will never actually do any research to dig deeper to learn about them. If these dogs were so vicious we wouldn’t be using them as service dogs or even as police dogs. People are a reason Pit Bulls are seen as vicious people teach them to be like that, We also have people that own apartment complexes or even people that own deed restricting housing think Pitbulls are very bad and we can’t even get insurance on our dogs if we have Pitbulls so if something were to happen and a Pitbull bit another dog they would have to pay money out of there pocket if there was any injuries and in the end they would have to put that Pitbull down because of that. I hope this essay can change at least change the way people view Pitbulls and for them to actually dig deeper and do some research about these dogs.…

Most myths regarding pit bulls are based in fear, and almost all of them are proven fallacies. Pit bulls are not the only breed of dog that can have negative, aggressive tendencies based on its upbringing and other circumstances, but certainly an attack on an animal or a person by a pit bull is much more likely to be reported on the news, resulting in the creation of a bad reputation for pit bulls everywhere. Unfortunately, it is this belief that has caused some areas to put out bans on the entire breed. Not until people realize that any animal, even a pit bull, can be a very gentle, kind-hearted partner for life simply by raising the animal in the correct way, will pit bulls finally be rid of the negative and unfair reputation surrounding their…

However, I believe nobody can afford the cost of the whole life, cigarettes not only cost smokers lots of money but make them get a high risk to get cancer of the lung, which can kill people easily. Smokers often smoke when they lose their heart and under heavy pressure, they argue that they need cigarettes to paralysis themselves and get a little piece of time to breath. There is no need to explain all the smoking-related hazards for a smoker 's health, as the majority of people who smoke are well informed about them. However, millions of individuals all over the world start or continue smoking every year. Taking this into consideration, a lot of people, including smokers as well as nonsmokers, might argue that "whether you smoke or not is a personal choice, and whether you think smoking is bad or not is also a personal choice" (Parliament: House of Commons: Work and Pensions Committee 57). Obviously, in a civilized society every individual should have a freedom of choice. According to Esherick (2014), "No one puts a gun to a nonsmoker 's head and says, "Try this cigarette or I 'll kill you", and most people…
