Pirates of the Caribbean is a fictional series based on a captain named Jack Sparrow. Sparrow isn’t your average captain, for he is a pirate and a troublesome one at that of course. The series setting goes back in history when the world was ruled by the British Empire, the East India Trading Company (EITC) and the Spanish Empire, as pirates raid the sea defining any laws that come their way. All the characteristics of a pirate, of course, which leads him into never ending troubles with the British Empire to the East India Trading Company. His only desire is to raid the seven seas in his boat the Black Pearl, but there always seems to be an obstacle in his path. The original film Pirates of the Caribbean: The Curse of the Black Pearl (2003) allowed film producers to relive the ancient history of pirates and the ruckus they caused for the British and Spanish Empires. With newly revised animations, the Pirates of the Caribbean series created a …show more content…
I’m dishonest, and a dishonest man you can always trust to be dishonest. Honestly, it’s the honest ones you want to watch out for, because you can never predict when they’re going to do something incredibly stupid. “
- Captain Jack Sparrow
Jack says this in the first movie The Curse of the Black Pearl when he’s worried that Will Turner is going to think with his heart instead of his head. Much like Jack, Indiana Jones has a light sense of humor regarding danger. It appears both characters make the best remarks when their lives are at stake, just to prove that it won’t be their last laugh, but most likely those who are at hand in the moment.
“I mean that for nearly three thousand years’ man has been searching for the lost Ark. It’s not something to be taken lightly. No one knows its secrets. It’s like nothing you’ve ever gone after before.”
- Dr. Indiana

Throughout the many ages, pirates have always been a center of fascination. Depicted as swashbuckling, carefree, and charismatic individuals, pirates have inspired many children to one day become pirates themselves. However, this depiction of pirates is far from how legitimate pirates are. Genuine pirates are not swashbuckling, carefree, nor charismatic, but, are more of an individual who “disrupts” the ocean, thereby being labeled as a criminal. In the documentary, Stolen Seas, directed by Thymaya Payne, he disillusions the whole romantic perception of pirates and portrays how difficult and lawless they really are.…

In order for one to understand the relationship that existed between the colonists’ and the pirates, one must simply understand the concept of supply and demand.…

The story of the famed outlaw of the American west, Jesse James has been retold time and time again. Each time history seems to be a little kinder to this well-known bank robber. The story of pirates is a similar one; they have gone from being terrors of the high seas to household names in children’s cartoons.
