Pirate Cove Casino: A Short Story

It was a quiet night in downtown East Nowhere. This sleepy town of just under 2,000 people usually shuts it’s lights out by 10PM. The sudden explosion rocked the residents awake. When the police arrived at the East Nowhere Bank it was clear a robbery had taken place.

Police were initially puzzled the bank door was unlocked and the vault had been blown wide open. Approximately 10,000 in cash were missing. The security cameras, located strategically, were all disabled. And inoperable. It certainly was a mystery.

Meanwhile, just about 5 miles down the road, Pirate Cove Casino was bustling. A crowd had developed around an 88 year-old patron. The elderly woman, later identified as Gladys Margaret Theeph, was betting hard and heavy at the craps
