The first stanza is about being surrounded by people and having to wear my mask. I have to pretend to be happy by wearing a “smile”,I said it was “etched” on my face because it sounds more forced rather than natural. This mask is persuasive it is able to distort reality with its “silver tongue” so people do not realize it is all fake. I used a simile to compare my lying to “Pinocchio”. The lies flow so naturally it almost seems real but there is always a reminder. If it weren’t for the reminder I would be content with wearing this mask, the “cloudless day” makes my own personal grey cloud more evident. This whole mask is a lie, a show put on for the public. The second stanza is the mask I have on when I am all alone. I use a simile to compare

Discovering the Music of Protest There is perhaps no epidemic in America worse then the racism and discrimination black people have face since the creation of this “free” nation. A shameful secret that the American government still barely acknowledged but a very real problem that has only grown with time with police murdering innocent black men, women and children, and the more recent event of having a raging racist elected as the USA’s new president. That is why I have decided to write my essay on “Strange Fruit” by Abel Meeropol performed most famously by Billie Holiday. “Strange Fruit” is perhaps the most iconic protest song in recent memory. With a haunting piano intro followed by Billie Holiday’s shaking voice this song shot to fame being nominated for a bevy of awards, and for good reason, it lingers in your mind the lyrics and it pulls no punches, telling the story of those who died these painful deaths without the rose coloured glasses historians like describe it as.…

However, there is some strange reasoning to their own sense of judgement, and most people do not publicly express an opinion about a complete stranger, unless the individual is audacious. Holden Caulfield, a teenager who despises the world is too judgemental that he cannot fathom how there is another side with every story, making civilization ’s faults seem bearable than being stuck inside this boy’s pessimistic mind. Thus instead of thinking that humanity is the issue, Holden might be the bigger dilemma, since his thoughts are delusional.…

In the 3-4 lines it says “ Could not, would fortune grant it name it's wish wants nothing everything.” At 13 you have no clue what you really want. They want nothing important to the real world but they want materialistic things that mean everything to them. This stanza creates a conflicting mood because it's showing how this age is very complicated age. In line 7 it says “owns half a hundred mask but no disguises and walks upon its heels” I think what the author is trying to say in this line is that who they are trying to be doesn't define who they really are at the age of thirteen they could have many different personalities.…
