and products are joining in on the action. The issue of health has been growing substantially in
the past decade or two by swaying people to think one way, so that they end up purchasing
multitudes of products, mainly being drugs. Large corporations and industries are so popular and
have so much influence that they easily mask what their true goal is, while the majority of
society does not recognize what is going on. This is the issue that the film Pink Ribbons, Inc. is
addressing.

Although several corporations are profiting from this, I feel as though it could
potentially do more harm than good. Breast Cancer may not raise enough money or get as
much awareness if a lot of these corporations are not involved. However, there could be a
solution, if a corporation wants to support, and market the copyrighted “pink ribbon” legally,
they should have to sign a contract that makes them give the percentage of profit gained because
of the ribbon back to the original foundation that actually raises the money for breast cancer.
While a lot of people are becoming angry at a lot of celebrities, entertainment, and other
industries for sporting pink and the pink ribbon, I think this anger is misdirected at times. It
would be very tough to tell a well known professional football player that he can’t wear pink,
even if his mother or grandmother suffers from the illness and he wants to support them.
Bottom line is that the “pink ribbon” symbol has become an out of control epidemic, that
needs a cure in and of itself. The victims, foundations, and corporations must partner
