A Diverse organization such as the University of Colorado Boulder values and recognizes people with different skills, interests, and backgrounds. I think I am a great benefit to this inclusive community because I am unique and open minded. Being open minded and accepting is an extremely important pillar to diversity because the university shows a deal of variety in the students attending and it is also an important concept to a linguistics major, seeing as language is one of the most diverse subjects in the world. I one day plan to become a polyglot, interested in studying as many languages as I can. This interest has always put me aside from my fellow classmates and I feel that at your establishment, I can achieve a sense of acceptance.

The Trouble with Diversity: Racial, Ethnic and Cultural Identity The study of diversity is widely exploited in political circuits in United States of America. Engaged from the presidential and ministerial speeches, it fits into their arguments without assessing the distortions that such a sequence suppose. Diversity is not a paradigm of equality. On this point, Walter Benn Michaels’s in his essay “The Trouble with Diversity: How We Learned to Love Identity and Ignore Inequality” allows to grasp some dimensions because "when it replaced the struggle for equality, the commitment diversity has weakened the political levees that contained the liberal thrust "(Michaels 2). Diversity Interview I completed this interview with an old friend, Darian, she is African American and her prefered sexual orientation is female. I have never really given much thought on how different we are, and still believe we are more alike than different. But we do have some rather large things that distinguish the two of us from each other. The major ‘skin deep’ things being she has a girlfriend and is African American.…

I am so excited for the opportunity to share in this most diverse campus at NC State! Being a student at NC State, I would both benefit from and contribute to campus diversity. It would enable me to learn about different cultures and inevitably make me a more sensitive person and more tolerant of other peoples views and religious beliefs. Also, being a student at such a diverse campus would prepare me for the work force where I'll encounter people from all walks of life who's views might be different from my own. What I would like to contribute to NC State's diversity are my own set of views and perspectives.…

Reflection 2 (Diversity) Diversity plays a great role in learning environment and is often a method of close consideration for teachers and educators. As a highly complex notion it may definitely be approached from different perspectives. This essay therefore aims to highlight some of its key elements and discuss them by analyzing two educational resources related to the diversity issues. Chapter 10 by Jennie Oakes and others, called “School Structure: Sorting Students and Opportunities to Learn”, discusses the aspect of student classification into different programs and groups according to certain criteria and the methods due to which such classification is conducted, indentifying its core purpose and sharing the best…

was heading to my morning class when I saw horrific graffiti written on the school wall. “TRUMP 2016” was plastered with chalk all over the east building. On behalf of the University of Ysir-copyh, we have enough with this oppressive, bigoted and offensive speech. It's time for the administration and the justice system to silence this rhetoric once and for all. This college is one of the best known in the world because of the efforts for inclusion.…

Learning from and sharing with a diverse group of people is greater than that which is learned from like-minded individuals. To bring not only my own experiences but those outside of my community and share with other students is an exciting contribution I want to be a part of. It also means that I can continue to gain from various other cultures, interests, and perspectives that I have yet to be exposed to. I see myself at NCSU, not only expanding my knowledge by embracing new experiences offered by the diversity seen on campus, but also sharing my personal experiences from the diversity I have already encountered.…

This is my first journal entry and I was asked to give my opinion on the topic of diversity and what the U.S. demographics would look like in 2050. But first, I would like to honor the names of the people, who lost their lives at Mother Emanuel AME Church: Cynthia Hurd, Sharonda Singleton, Myra Thompson, Tywanza Sanders, The Rev. DePayne Middleton-Doctor, Susie Jackson, Ethel Lance, Daniel Simmons, and especially, the inspirational Reverend Clementa Pinckney (Perkins, Huntsberry, & Chappell, 2015). He lived life with love and optimism, making every day the best he possibly could by helping to better the lives of others. He loved everyone, even the killer who walked into his church and gunned him down. As we observe how hate can easily consume…
