Piggy broke his glasses because Jack slapped him and Piggy’s glasses flew of and a lense broke. Jack does not feel guilty we know this because on page 74 Jack does not want to give Piggy any meat and he keeps being rude to him. The glasses are important to survival because you need them to light the fire and the fire is to cook food and to keep smoke rising incase a ship or a plane comes by. The glasses sybolize survival because if you lose them their chances of survival will go down drastically. Also they sybolize power because with out the glasses you can’t light the fire and if Piggy were to use that against them he could become the leader or chief.
