Nonetheless, their quarrel lasted about fifteen minutes, and it took my mother calling my grandfather over our house to settle things down. However, by that time my grandfather got to our house my brother had already called my father. Once my grandfather got to our house, my mother broke down crying, and my grandfather took my brother to his room to talk some sense into him. Furthermore, my mother wiped her eyes and told me that I should be happy that they were getting back together. “What about me, my school, and my birthday that is coming up in a few weeks?” I questioned my mother. “You can make new friends and celebrate your birthday there,” my mother replied as she tried to control her tears. “I’m going to stay with my father,” I stated. “WHATEVER!” my mother …show more content…
However, despite our disapproval, two weeks later my brother and I were packing and on our way to start our new life in Crescent, Georgia.
My brother and I hated living in the county. It was a lifeless place full of dirt roads and nothing to do but stand on the street talking, play football, or stay in the house and sleep. The closest mall or outlet was 12.2 miles away in Darien, Georgia, and the only grocery store was Piggy Wiggy. They don’t even have a Walmart! This place was so boring that I celebrated my sweet 16 birthday watching television and occasionally getting telephone calls from family and friends. I remember sitting on mother’s burgundy couch watching the Tyra Banks Show dreaming about life back home and the party I would have. It would have been an extravagant event, and I was going to have on a long beautiful light blue dress with sparkles all on it. The dress was showed all of my curves.
