In Lord of the Flies by William Golding, Piggy is the most mature of the boys, due to his intelligence and ideas and kindness to the others.Throughout the book Piggy’s ideas are shot down by the other boys almost immediately, even though it is obvious that he has the most intellectual ideas and thoughts out of all of them (Golding).Piggy’s intelligence shows his maturity, as it sets him apart from the others. His intelligence also helps him from resorting to savagery like the other boys, which shows that he is more mature and balanced, as not to resort to a primal nature. Piggy is also kind to most of the other boys, especially the littluns (Golding). He takes an almost parental role towards the younger boys due to always being left behind
