Freud’s third part of the human psyche, the Ego, which balances morality and impulse, is manifested in the character, Ralph. Ralph is an authority figure; he respects freedom of speech, and he takes into account the consent of the individuals he “governs”. The “littluns” view Ralph as an adult-like figure because he has an air of authority. However, he is far from an ideal leader. Ralph lacks charisma, and he did not successfully execute his plans.
