Pictures In Our Heads Analysis

People do not realize how gullible they become while they are watching television: from being totally mesmerized on a reality TV show to being awestruck from watching the news. Technology has expanded throughout the years, that it has even gotten to the point where you can watch television on your phone. People are so attached to the media and television that they become so easy to convince that everything they see on TV or on social media believe is real or the truth. In the article, “Pictures in Our Heads” the authors, Anthony Pratkanis and Elliot Aronson discuss how they believe the mass media have brainwashed the people and painted an imaginary world in their heads (158). They suspected that the media has mislead viewers and made them believe everything they see on television is real and the truth, but it is not. For example, televisions shows on criminal activity display the police officers as just and fair while being able to solve any crime or problem that comes their way due to the mass media wanting the citizens to trust and then obey these officers. The sad truth is that the people have corrupt law enforcements who work on their own personal agenda as well as taking weeks to even years to solve crimes. This demonstrates how the media shows false accusations.
