This article seeks to define the extent of censorship in respect to the suppression of provocative picture books towards young adolescence. Linder focuses on the opposition exerted by an individual or group towards a text in the attempt censor the topics of sexual orientation, human production and/or other topics that contradict their beliefs. Linder argues that through the analyzation of controversial texts, students are endowed with deeper understanding of particular subjects, as the abstraction leads them to view issues from atypical perspectives. The article further emphasizes that studying challenged and banned picture books allows students to unmask the reality of censorship attempts to undermine freedom of speech and freedom of press;
