The Phytochemical composition of turmeric extract and apple peel extract are illustrated in table (1). Both are rich in plant phenolics and flavonoids (higher in turmeric extract) that are highly effective free radical scavengers and antioxidants (Toklu et al., 2009) which explain their ability to react with reactive oxygen species (ROS) and reactive nitrogen species (RNS). This result is in agreement with Lim et al., (2011) who stated that Curcumin is an effective antioxidant and acts as a superoxide radical scavenger and as a singlet oxygen quench. The antioxidant and radical scavenging activities are closely related to polyphenols (Alvarez-Jubete et al., 2010) Also, the results in apple peel are coincided with Mohamad and Fatma., (2010) who showed the highest significant percentage of flavonoids in apple peels. The antioxidant activity of turmeric extract is due to their chemical structure that exist in a stable enol form acting as a chain-breaking antioxidant (Reason et al., 2011). It suppresses the activation of NF ƙB, an inducible transcription factor that regulates expression of anti-apoptotic genes and induces metastasis (Garg and Aggarwal, 2002) thus increases apoptosis as observed in the current
