Physics is everywhere. Especially in NASCAR which stands for National Association for Stock Car Auto Racing is a racing sport which the racing cars have motion. “NASCAR is motorsport's preeminent stock-car racing organization. The three largest racing-series sanctioned by this company are the Sprint Cup Series, the Xfinity Series, and the Camping World Truck Series.”(Mukul Bhatia.What is NASCAR?.www.quora.com.) On the rough racetrack nascar cars are made to be driven in extreme conditions. In the sport of racing aerodynamics downforce, drag determines the motion of the race car.
Car aerodynamics is a study of aerodynamics of road vehicles. Main goals are to reduce drag and wind noise, reducing noise emission, and to prevent undesired lift forces

Downforce is the force on a moving car pressing the car towards the ground giving it more stability . The force of downforce is created by the combination of gravity and air resistance . “Downforce is generated by the air flowing over the ground the car generating negative lift”(,HughUjhazy.”Drag,Downforce,And Drafting”.www.motorauthority.com.April28,2011) so basically the lower the car is the more stable the driver will be able to drive it at highspeeds. Nascar cars are shaped so air is pushed up over the body of the car, then air pressure forces the car down onto the racing track. The air that is traveling over the top of the car is directed by the front dam. Also Nascar cars are specially design by physics engineers to try to minimize the air that comes from underneath the car. “Drag is a force that acts parallel and in the same direction as the airflow.”(wikipedia.www.wikipedia.com. automotive drag coefficient.) Basically drag is a generated force that opposes the motions through the air. Drag can do a lot to a car, it can be a resistance to the motion of the car at high speeds. The type of drag depends on how the car is shape and its call form drag. As the car is driven at high speeds the air acts as a resistance due to the shape of the car and can change the velocity and pressure. The key to winning a NASCAR race doesn’t totally depend on the power created by the engine but also the amount of drag that the vehicle creates.
In the sport of racing in NASCAR deals with physics in many ways. The sport has evolve tremendously because individuals have applied the study of physics to improve the ars speed and handling when it's driven at high speeds. The forces of aerodynamic like drag, and downforce affects the handling and speed in good and bad ways.
