Introduction
A bottle rocket is composed of two elements, energy and fuel. The energy in the case of a bottle rocket is compressed air as it is pumped into a soda bottle, half filled with water by a bicycle pump. Compressed air is an excellent source of energy because it is very lightweight and can store a plentiful amount of energy, also it does not weigh down the rocket. Water is then used as the fuel for the rocket. Water is very dense and provides a lot of inertia for the rocket to propel upwards as water is pushed out the bottom of the rocket due to the compressed air.

The acceleration of the object will increase as the force of the object increases. In this case the propelling force is thrust. In order to increase thrust, the water must be expelled from the rocket at a fast rate. Secondly as the mass decreases, acceleration will increase due to the inverse proportions and because of the increasing Fnet. Therefore the rockets mass, must as minimal as possible, in order to have an increase in acceleration.

Newton’s Third Law of Motion – For every action there is an equal and opposite reaction. The top half of the bottle filled with compressed air reaches a maximum capacity after being pumped in by the bicycle pump. After this capacity is attained the cork of the bottle can no longer withstand the pressure and suddenly releases causing the water within to create a downwards force, which is the action force. The reaction force is the water pushing up on the compressed air within the bottle, causing the bottle to propel into the air. The bottle pushing the fuel out of the rocket backwards, propels the rocket into the sky which is known as
