Physics At UNAM: Personal Statement Of Purpose

Improved Essays
I majored in physics at UNAM. During my major, Experimental Physics and Optics especially attracted my attention. For that reason, I took all the elective courses offered about those. Additionally, I had the great opportunity to present my university research goals attending some congresses and summer schools where I could know more about current research in Mexico and the world. Moreover, I took some extracurricular courses with the purpose of being up-to-date and better trained in my field of study. Consequently, my bachelor thesis was based on an experimental study of optical solitons, and it is worth to mention that it is being reviewed so as to be published in an international scientific magazine. So far, I have learnt about Optics at

For as long as I can remember, I have wanted to attend North Dakota State University. My dad and sister are NDSU alumni, so furthering my education where they did provides us with a unique bond. Additionally, not many of my relatives attended college, allowing me to see the difficulties in providing for oneself and family without a college degree. Although I know the next seven years are going to be challenging, extremely strenuous, and will push me to the edge of my comfort zone, the satisfaction of administering medical services to those who need them will make it worthwhile. Not only will I be able to care for others with a Pharm.…

I am interested in applying to SMU because it is a well rounded college. The business school at SMU is known for being fantastic and it really attracted me to the university. There seems to be a lot of school spirit around the athletic teams, most notably the football and basketball programs. Also, I really like the city of Dallas, even though I have only visited it a few times. I was particularly interested in the fact that SMU has a 11:1 student-faculty ratio because I like how the university can offer more individual attention.…

My life goal is to run my own business in the future. When I imitatively formed a team in school; when I sparked the creative idea of selling Korean hot pot at the party; when I successfully persuade my sponsors to support our conference with free food; when I designed and uploaded my own advertisements online, and saw they were favored again and again; when my limited discount coupons were sold out during the pre-sale – I realized that my blueprint was actually coming true step-by-step and I felt excited about the unknown challenges. However, I’m also well aware that prospective business activities are not as easy as those practices I’ve experienced. Except for business sense and knowledge, critical thinking, which is exactly what I’m trying to improve, plays an important role in the real business world. Mount Holyoke College (MHC) is the place where I can discover what I am truly seeking for.…

I believe in applying knowledge to innovate and challenge the obstacles that are holding back the advancement of science. As such, a lab-based research thesis will give me the opportunity to critically think and apply what I learned so far academically and professionally to find solutions to the unanswered questions that lie at the scientific frontline. This experience will also allow me to further develop skills that will help me advance and excel towards my career in clinical research and medicine. Specifically, my interest in Dr. Matthew Holahan’s lab stems from my genuine interest in researching about concussions. My interest in concussion research started while preparing a literature review for NEUR3200 and later a poster presentation…

I never imagined that going back to school would make me feel so alive. New stories, facts, and references feed my mind and my voice, bringing confidence and clarity to my life. In Spain, where I grew up, women were not recognized or encouraged to continue their education or have a voice. Out of ignorance, my father and brothers crashed any impulse that I had as a young girl to let my opinions and my voice out; however, I found alternative ways to express myself through dance, paint and spiritual practices. Even though I am confident in my body and my artistic expression, I have not explored the capacities of my voice and opinions into a professional life so I am developing them through academic studies.…
