John is trying to protect his wife the Narrator from being hurt or getting hurt by locking her away in a room that is closed off and calling her a crazy. John thought that it would help her by moving out into the middle of nowhere and maybe being able to cure her depression. He is only making it worse by not letting her be able to go out and be social with people, or also being able to handle separation from her kid.
That is the reason why she is not being very happy, because of the separation between her and her kid. John has even been looking into going and getting lobotomy done by this crazy German doctor. By placing her in the old nursery, with old faded wallpaper and a bed that is strapped to the floor, it gives the person with the depression an even worse feeling cause them to like feel they are not a part of something important. …show more content…
But John has taken that freedom away from her. I understand what John is trying to do, but he is taking the wrong move toward being able get his wife back to where she use to. Of course the fact that John is the man and in this time frame the man had the say in everything the family, and his wife did, and so he did not even listen to a thing that his wife had to say, and what she really wanted that would make her better. Also that John’s sister would even talk down on his wife is an even bigger issue, because she is a women and John would listen to her, but not his own
