During my time with the Excell Education Pre-Physician Assistant Clerkship, I was able to serve the geriatric population by assessing their quality of life at the nursing home. In the beginning, I struggled to find the right balance between school, a job, extracurriculars, my family, and friends. After attempting various learning methods, such as one-on-one tutoring and seeking extra help from teacher's assistants, I discovered my preferred learning style included self-learning and study groups. My approach consists of prioritizing my academics and utilizing an organized time management system. I know this method works for me because I have been able to successfully apply it to my graduate studies. My greatest strength is that I am a compassionate person; I am easy to approach and I am a good listener. I have been told that I am a person who can empathize with others, and consequently, people find comfort in sharing their stories with me. Compassion is an important characteristic for a physician assistant to possess because patients should be able to feel comfortable in the care they are receiving during their most vulnerable state. Also, as a student, I am very inquisitive and eager to learn new things. I am constantly reading up on the news whether it is about the country's economy or an article on art history.
