Physician Assistant Application Essay

I am extremely excited at the prospect of attending the Master of Physician Assistant Program at Eastern Virginia Medical School. I have extensively researched many programs, and am incredibly fortunate to have found a school whose program mission, vision, and values are so closely aligned with my own motivations for becoming a PA, as well as with my professional aspirations upon graduation; I hope to work in a Health Professional Shortage Area, where I can deliver patient-centered primary care to those most in need. My extensive work and volunteer history has involved fast-paced, high-stress, team-based environments, and as such has equipped me with the organizational and communication skills necessary to be successful as both a PA student and future PA. I am most passionate about my current volunteer experience, at a nonprofit health center where we serve uninsured, low/no income patients; here I take on many different roles and responsibilities in order to provide quality, compassionate healthcare to those most in need in my community. My professionalism and dedication to this role have already allowed me the opportunity to complete their medical scribe training, and to be recognized for my leadership skills. I also recently took the initiative to create several manuals for our new volunteers to follow, and am getting an invaluable firsthand look at the challenges faced by the medically underserved, and subsequently the skills and knowledge I should and am currently acquiring in order to provide patients with the best outcomes
