The day is warm, above the seventies as we enter the month of April. The hospital is quiet, its white walls giving off a calm feeling. My eyes closed, I breathe in and out, thankful for the position I find myself in: happiness. Happiness for being someone I always wanted to be: a physician assistant. I hope to one day find myself in that exact positon one day in the near future, fulfilling not only my dreams but also my mother’s dreams of me becoming a physician assistant. A physician assistant is a certified medical provider who can take the medical history of a patient, assist in surgery, write prescriptions, as well more depending on the location, specialty, and experience of the physician assistant. The reason I chose this was because I have always enjoyed helping patients and I’d love to do something I love. Haven’t you ever heard the quote: Choose a job you love and you will never work a day in your life? In 2012, there was a total of 86,700 physician assistants practicing in the United States. Since then, the Physician Assistant field has grown in numbers and has expanded across the nation into the seas. Physician Assistants (PAs) are found in all areas of medicine and are commonly found to be in hospitals, medical offices, and doctor offices. Typically, physician assistants share the same duties/ responsibilities as a doctor holds.
