I am surprised on how accurate the FOCUS activity described the specific personal interest I have for my future career. For the Work Interest assessment, I was placed in the ‘Social’ category. This is no surprise to me as I enjoy successfully communicating and working with a variety of people. I am used to working cooperatively with fellow peers because I’ve been on sports teams all of my life. From junior high through high school, I was the starting point guard and team captain for the basketball team. Being team captain taught me how to have patience, communicate more efficiently, and work cooperatively with others. Additionally, many of my friends and peers describe me as a friendly guy. I love hearing people’s unique thoughts and perspectives about certain aspects of life. The majority of the other options for my future career that FOCUS suggested did not appeal to me. However, some of those options met all of my personal values and skills. One suggested job was a sports events planner. This is somewhat intriguing to me because it requires …show more content…
This fits into my personality as I take much pleasure in recognizing and appeasing the physical and mental concerns of others. Additionally, going into health care allows me to provide a positive impact on members of my society. My passion for pursuing a career in health care is fueled by myself knowing that what my future job does will make a difference on the lives of certain individuals I work with. Another benefit of working in health care is that I am able to be exposed to a vast variety of people, all with unique and interesting stories and perspectives on life.
