I would like you to take a moment and picture the most physically imposing person you can imagine. Now, chances are you probably pictured a really buff guy working out or punching someone in the face or something. It doesn’t really matter what you saw him doing, the point is, you probably imagined a man. One of the most widely perpetuated social norms of all time is that women are physically and mentally weaker than men. This has been pretty definitively proven by scientists to be incorrect, and yet it is always expected that the damsel in distress will need a knight in shining armor to save her. This social norm appears in books, movies, TV shows, pretty much every form of media imaginable, despite there being little actual evidence of it
