Physical therapists consistently demonstrate core values by pursuing principles of caring, ethics, communication, and accountability, and by working with other professionals to achieve optimal health and wellness in individuals (Stern, 2006). Exhibiting professionalism as a doctor of physical therapy positively benefits the patients, community, and therapists in the workplace. For this reason, it is imperative that the student remain attentive and alert during hands-on experience with patients in order to avoid pitfalls. In addition, the student must be committed to the field of study and willing to accept responsibility for his or her actions.
