For example, I spent a week in a rural Alaska Native village of less than 300 people where I went to school, played with Alaska Native children, and ate in their homes. The people and their language, food, and music were new to me, and opened my eyes to a culture and social class that was completely different from my own. My family also spent a year living in New York City and another year in Cambridge England. These experiences further expanded my appreciation for cultural diversity and human rights. I care deeply about peoples’ feelings, and firmly believe that everyone should be treated with equal respect, irrespective of his or her disability, race, social, cultural, or economic background. As a future health care provider, I look forward to working with a diverse group of clients and learning more about how social and cultural factors influence health and
