A PT’s hours are that of any regular full time job, working a typical 40 hours per week. “Depending on the work setting, however, some may need to work evenings or weekends ("Physical Therapist").” The work area of a PT could be anywhere from rural to urban, there is no certain location, though, some areas such as hospitals or nursing homes may have a higher demand. Duties of a PT are to go over the patient's file and medical record to see what type of injury they are working with, then they will use specialized exercises tailored specifically to that person to help them recuperate. A PT does not only help a person physically, they also provide a great deal of mental support. OU’s PT program consists of 108 semester hours. Some of the courses a student will take include, Exercise Science, Fundamentals of PT, and Clinical Education (“Doctor of Physical Therapy (DPT”). When a student graduates from the OU DPT program, they will receive a doctorate degree on top of the bachelor’s degree required to enter the program. Once graduated from OU, a student will have the 4 years for a bachelor’s degree with 3 years from the DPT program, totaling 7 years of college under their belt when finished. OU’s acceptance rate is 80%, for every 100 applicants, 80 of them are admitted.
