My intention applying to the Idaho State University, Master of Science in Athletic Training program, and Doctor of Physical Therapy program is to participate in the dual-degree opportunity. My interest in the allied health professions began in my sports medicine class during my sophomore year of high school. I fell in love with learning about the human body and I absorbed the content effortlessly. I continued my enrollment in the sports medicine program throughout my high school education, and my passion for the program made me realize I wanted to pursue a career in medicine. I explored the idea of a career in physical therapy by job shadowing at the Idaho Sports Medicine Institute, and I was immediately drawn to the occupation. I decided to pursue my dream of becoming a physical therapist at Idaho State University as a Physical Education Exercise Science major. While my undergraduate education has …show more content…
I have worked relentlessly to achieve a 3.91 GPA, have been put on the Dean’s List for 5 semesters, held multiple leadership positions at Idaho State University, and performed a wide-variety of volunteer work for the community. I have also gained extensive exposure in the field of physical therapy and athletic training. I have observed physical therapists at my job as a physical therapy technician at an outpatient clinic as well as at the local hospital and pediatric therapy center. I have also observed athletic trainers working at the high school and collegiate level. In addition to my academic success, I have also had the opportunity to perform and publish research with Dr. Michael Meyers involving the incidence and severity of collegiate men’s soccer lower leg injuries on artificial and natural surfaces. My research has been submitted for publication in hopes that I will be presenting it at the American College of Sports Medicine conference this
