I got to see patients get treated for various injuries that hindered their physical functioning abilities, which included injuries pertaining to car accidents, bursitis, osteoporosis, ataxia, muscle atrophy, loss of bone and muscle strength due to chemotherapy. Most of the patients I saw were eager to rehabilitate themselves, so that they can go back to work and their duties. I have also seen some reluctant patients who did not believe that recovery was practical; however, on their last session, they walked out of the clinic elated as they finally regained their mobility. Other patients I have encountered are from the computer programming field and those who work in places that require a lot of hand labor, which are fields that cause various cervical problems as well as carpal tunnel syndrome. In order to be better informed for my DPT education, I would glimpse through the notes I wrote while observing, which explained the various illnesses and its characteristics, and how they could cause loss of range of motion, which can enervate one’s ability to function
