My story began in a small city in China, where I was abandoned by my birth parents when I was three days old. Despite my beginning, my fate shifted when I was adopted seven months later by a family who has taught me that any dream is possible. They pushed me to learn and develop to my furthest potential, but I have still experienced many hardships, which in turn, has taught me valuable lessons. Malnourishment, accompanied with not being held for the first seven months of my life, made the first few years of physical development harder than anyone originally thought. Therefore, I was assigned to a physical therapist who improved my motor skills tremendously, and allowed me to have a new look on life.…

Becoming a physical therapist will enable me to not only fulfill my personal career goals but more importantly fulfill my passion to help others overcome their physical fitness aliments. I have always had an impulse to serve people, particularly those suffering with pain and mobility issues after seeing first-hand how poor fitness can negatively affect others and cause depression. During high school, when I had the opportunity to take anatomy and physiology, I discovered my passion for learning about the human body. Further health education in college only reinforced my decision to work in a medical field. My older sister mentioned that I should look into physical therapy since she recognized my empathy for people who were physically handicapped.…

I plan on graduating graduate school with a doctorate in physical therapy and hopefully work in a clinic specific for physical therapy and/or athletic training. Physical therapists work with individuals to change overall fitness for the better by restoring and hopefully maintaining a good health standing. They provide these services by restoring function, improving mobility and relieving pain through diagnosis and given exercise plans. Physical therapists might also help prevent or limit permanent damage done to the body. Some patients may include the elderly, athletes, people suffering from disabling conditions that they were born with, or victims of an accident.…
