It was an amazing experience to know that the supplies were helping such innocent kids who needed them. Although I did not know who the supplies went to, it sure expanded my knowledge on just how much impact each of us can have on our community.

For a long time I have wanted to be a physical therapist and so I decided to seek out an internship at Willow Creek Physical Therapy and see if physical therapy was something I actually wanted to do. Although the internship started out as an experience for myself it turned into something much more than that. During the 70+ hours I spent there I got to help the physical therapist's aid people who could barely walk sometimes. It was amazing to see how much impact physical therapy can have on people. During this time I would play games with them or talk to them about anything they wanted guidance with. There are various ways to give back to others; whether it’s through donations or volunteer work they can all make a positive impact on the greater community. Personally, I believe the best way to enrich others’ lives is by donating your time. I’ve often been asked, “How many hours of community service does your school require? “Unfortunately, my school does not require volunteer hours; therefore there is noticeably very little youth involvement in our community. I believe volunteering should be done by everyone, even if it’s not required.…

My story began in a small city in China, where I was abandoned by my birth parents when I was three days old. Despite my beginning, my fate shifted when I was adopted seven months later by a family who has taught me that any dream is possible. They pushed me to learn and develop to my furthest potential, but I have still experienced many hardships, which in turn, has taught me valuable lessons. Malnourishment, accompanied with not being held for the first seven months of my life, made the first few years of physical development harder than anyone originally thought. Therefore, I was assigned to a physical therapist who improved my motor skills tremendously, and allowed me to have a new look on life.…
