The ordered activity level for the client was for him to tolerate three hours of activity daily and getting up with staff as necessary. The ordered physical therapy for this patient included therapeutic exercise, ambulation, endurance activity, use of walker, and deconditioning. He had an hour and half of physical therapy and an hour and a half of occupational therapy to complete each day. The occupational therapist worked with the patient to help him regain his ability to complete activities of daily living. The patient’s stage II colon cancer has been removed, but his prolonged hospital stay has been the cause of decreased activity. The physical therapy ordered for this client improves his mobility, motion, strength, and overall ability to function independently. The physical therapists are working with this patient to develop a positive client outcome. He should also have increased flexibility and proper gait after completing PT.
