For the development of motor skills the client should begin physical therapy through guided play sessions. It is important to let the child guide the degree of difficulty in these tasks. It is important that the child does not fell stressed to accomplish something she is unable to do because of delays. For example let the child play with a ball. She may not trust the ball at first but allow her to explore the ball in any way she chooses. Do not discourage her in any way. After she has had time to explore this new object demonstrate what you can do with the ball (ie. throw the ball, kick the ball, roll the ball across the ground ect.). Allow the child to observe until she is ready to imitate these actions. Do not push the client. This will only hinder further development and possibly stress the child and cause her to regress. After the child is comfortable with a new object continue to introduce objects to help develop her motor and language
