There are a variety of career options in the field of sport, physical fitness, and recreation. After researching these fields, the careers of physical therapy, coaching boxing, and personal trainers stuck out.
To begin, physical therapists help people with physical injuries or illnesses to regain range of movement and control their pain. Physical therapists help people who have lost motor functions for any reason. They usually help people by creating plans for them that include stretching, strength training, and manipulating the body to help people recover. Physical therapists need many skills; they need to be social, strong, dextrous, and they need attention to detail. They work one-on-one with patients that they may need to lift, and they need to be able to analyze a patient’s issues and pains to help them ease the pain, without putting them further at risk for injury.
Physical therapists make a median income of $36.69 an hour, or $76,310 per year. It is a rapidly growing career as baby boomers are aging, and the job market is thought to increase by 39% within the next ten years. This is much faster than the average for most jobs. …show more content…
Boxing instructors must be in the gym from the morning and work with their fighters all day long. They supervise and coordinate the training and instruction of their fighters in boxing technique, and provide a competitive environment to train and motivate athletes. They must organize team practices and workouts. They must prevent accidents and injuries and monitor guests to make sure they are following proper safety precautions and be able to administer first aid while EMS comes in case of an accident. Overall, it is a very demanding job that requires a lot of lifting, training, working overtime, and even working weekends and holiday shifts.
