The baseline GPA to get into any physical therapy program is a 3.0. Most programs require you to achieve a bachelor's degree and other specific educational courses. Most Doctor of Physical Therapy programs last at least three years. Most physical therapy programs are 80 % classroom work, and 20 % lab-typed work. Some schools and universities offer hands opportunities with their athletic teams. By hands on opportunities I mean being able to work with injured athletes and being able to help them heal. Out of all the schools I have looked into, University of Indianapolis (UIndy) has caught my attention the most. UIndy’s physical therapy program is called “Krannert’s School of Physical Therapy” (KSPT) . The university’s headquarters and main campus is in the heart of Indianapolis. Doctors of physical therapy typically go through 1-2 years of residency to prepare themselves for their upcoming careers. Once you have completed your residency, you have many options on where and how you would like to pursue your career. Most PT’s work in outpatient clinics, and private practices. Now physical therapy is spreading to whole new levels. PT’s work in hospitals, nursing homes, home health agencies and even schools. I want to be a physical therapist that specializes in athletics. I don’t necessarily want to be an athletic trainer, but I want to help injured athletes a wide scale.
