The career I am going to school for is to be a physical therapist assistant (PTA). I have known about this career since my sophomore year in high school. During a baseball game I fractured my left wrist while sliding into third base. Soon after, I had to have surgery on my wrist because of the way it bent when I was sliding into the base. When I got my cast off the doctor insisted I go to a physical therapist to help me move my wrist and make it stronger. While I was there I soon realized their job really interested me, and from then on that’s what I’ve wanted to do as my future career when I got older. I feel like I would make a great physical therapist assistant because I would like to help people who has been hurt get better and function …show more content…
Then obtain in a CAPTE-accredited associate degree program. The PTA program prepares graduates for taking the national licensure examination. The length of a PTA program is usually 4 years long which includes everything a person would need to get there licensed as a PTA. With being licensed as a Physical therapist assistant you will be able to get a job in any state as a PTA. Without being licensed you will not be able to work as a PTA unless you plan to work in Colorado or Hawaii. Salaries also differ from state to state and how much experience they have. PTA’s that work in home health care services generally makes more than PTA’s that work in general medical hospitals. PTA’s usually start out making around $31,840 yearly with no experience and can top out making around $75,530 after having over 10 years of experience (“Summary”). The medina for a PTA is around $54.410 yearly which is estimated $26.16 an hour (“Summary”). Physical therapist assistant’s benefits differ from which department they choose to work
