Physical Therapist “Optimism is the faith that leads to achievement. Nothing can be done without hope and confidence (Keller).” This quote was said by Helen Keller in discussing the important rule physical therapists have and the positive influence they should have in a person's life. Physical therapists are healthcare professionals who diagnose and treat individuals of all ages, from newborns to the very oldest. They treat anyone that has medical problems or other health related conditions that limit their abilities to move and perform functional activities in their daily life. Pursuing a career as a physical therapist is a great choice for one who enjoys helping people, likes to be physically and mentally challenged, and is looking for solid pay and benefits.
Being able to help people is a very personally fulfilling factor of being a physical therapist. Physical therapists help people to attain and regain the ability to carry out daily life. To be a physical therapist one has to enjoy physical activity. He or she will be spending a majority of their time on their feet doing a lot of physical movement. Physical therapists demonstrate the proper techniques and help their patients perform exercises. Usually they will do the activities with their patients for motivational reasons. They use their hands to provide manual therapy and therapeutic exercises as well. Along with being physically challenged physical therapists are mentally challenged. One must have strong analytic and observational skills to diagnose a problem. Physical therapists care for their patients while recovering as well. It will not be easy for the patient and they might try giving up or quitting, he or she must help them through it. Physical therapists face many physical and mental
