Being depended on by hundreds of athletes, men, women, young adults is what a physical therapist goes through day in and day out. They are counted on on to get people back to full health after an injury or accident. When seeking a career as a physical therapist, a person should look at aspects such as responsibilities, requirements, skills necessary, its salary, and its prospects, but even more importantly is preparing oneself by attending Texas A&M that will offer the best training possible. Many people think all physical therapist do is tell people what to do, but that isn’t the case. There are a lot more tasks and responsibilities. If you just want to graduate with a masters it is going to take about 6 years. If you want to continue and achieve a doctorate you 're looking at 8-10 years of school maybe a little less. After all the tough hours of studying and going to class you must take a national and state exam. This will get you your license. Some states vary weather you have to take a state exam or not. A lot of schools are extremely competitive. They look at grades, work/ volunteer, academic courses, application/ essays, and letter of recommendation. Colleges only want the best of the best. When you go into the medical field you are dealing with peoples lives. Thats why it takes so long and so much learning if you don 't take care of someone are you really doing your job? Thats why it takes so much time and so much learning. You can be putting someones life at risk. Just think about this way, suffer for 6-8 more years then after that you 're pretty much set. Ladies and gentlemen Texas Stat. In the past 3 years they have had 100% membership in the American Physical Therapy Association. If that is not astonishing enough, they’ve had over 85% of their students passing all their courses. Texas State is the place to go when you’re looking to finish off your masters or maybe even doctoral degree for physical therapy. (Texas State.org, Baylor University.org, Texas Tech. org) Everyone experiences things that influence them and their lives. It may change their life for the better or worse. There was an incident where a boy named R.J. Atkinson experienced an injury that made him make up his mind in what he was going to do for a living. R.J. was a freshman in high-school when tragedy struck. It was the last game of the season, in the second quarter. He was going for a tackle and instead of running through the tackle he tried to stop himself. When you play on turf there is a lot more friction so when he tried to stop his knee gave out. They tested his knee and they said everything was fine. That wasn’t the case, his knee gave out on him two more times before they started taking him seriously.
