In Ohio, the physical therapist is accountable and responsible for the directions given and actions of the physical therapist assistant, the student physical therapist, the student physical therapist assistant, other licensed personnel, and unlicensed personnel. The supervising physical therapist assistant is responsible for all the directions given and action of the student physical therapist assistant, other licensed personnel, and unlicensed personnel. A physical therapist assistant can only be supervised by a physical therapist and not by any other person. Supervision of a physical therapist assistant does not mean onsite supervision, but the physical therapist must be available by phone
