Applied psychology means the study of human behavior that can help explain the positive and negative ways that can affect the way we function. The four themes I choose were physical health, communication problems, marriage and intimate relationships, and stress.
I chose to put physical health as one of my themes because being healthy is important to me. On my biological father’s side of the family, majority of them are obese or close to it; plus they all are females. Since I am shorter than majority of them, it will be much worse for me because I do not have the height advanagte as they do. I try to go to the gym and exercise at least 3x a week. If I cannot do that, I usually do my workouts in my room with my ankle and wrists weights. My nutritional …show more content…
Most many not know, but I am a child of divorce. My parents were not legally divorced until I was four, but they were separated. I was living with my mom and occasionally my dad came to see me. At the age of ten, I began to blame myself a while after my parents got divorce. Whenever told myself it was my fault, my mom would tell me it was never my fault. She told me the best thing she got from my dad was me. When I was 15, my mom had gotten remarried. With that, came a new dad, a younger sister and two baby brothers. One of which was born from my mom. It was difficult coping with a dad in my life again. I was the one that would help always take care of my mom and siblings. I would help her with cooking, cleaning, taking care of my other siblings by making sure they did their homework and chores. Over time, I had gotten to use to my stepfamily, and now whenever I tell someone I have six younger siblings instead I tell them that I have a blended family. With the gender and racial stereotypes, its diffculut being a female in the engineering field. This doesn’t quite fit the gender role exceptions nor the social norms of society. Most people ask me why I decided to pursue my field or any field. They’d always tell me I should be a stay at home parent, have my husband working while I should be a wife, and raise the
