Managers and supervisors need to be involved in communicating with, motivating and monitoring performance of employees. Developing trust among staff has a positive influence on their job satisfaction and dedication. The team needs to be aware of any issues that may affect the food safety management system and are an excellent source of information. Sufficient information of tasks must be communicated to staff regarding food safety and opportunities for staff to communicate their ideas. Ensure you have communicated procedures correctly by asking questions so that you know that team members have understood and there are no misunderstandings. We use visuals around the kitchen on food safety such as handwashing, allergens and information on the correct chopping board. If any new information needs to be communicated, we would arrange a staff meeting along with print outs, so that everyone can also read over any information in their own time.
