Physical Growth/Motor Development Assessment

Improved Essays
The Physical Growth/Motor Development checklist was chosen in order to record Mary’s physical and motor skills. The completion of this assessment took place during play time and center time. What I found after completing this assessment is that Mary’s physical growth and motor development is progressing. Mary has demonstrated most of the tasks listed on the checklist. The skills that she has not yet mastered is still areas in which she is learning how to and if she continues to get the proper help she will be mastering all the skills appropriate for her age level.

Rosey has displayed fine motor skills such as stacking blocks which are congruent with several children of the same age group (2-3 years in age). Client has also displayed traits associated with Piaget’s sensorimotor stage in that she has been engaging in independent imitation and manipulation play such as playing with her baby doll. Assuming that the text meant that she was walking when it was stated that she is an active child, Rosey appears to display some gross motor skills. However, the extent of these skills are unknown.…

According to the Developmental Profiles, based on what I have observed I would say that Casey’s motor skills are in line with what a four year old should be doing. When she was outside on the play ground with the other children while running she was able to change directions without stopping first, hop on one foot, and skip. Also while on the playground she was able to climb the equipment. I also observed that when Casey is writing she is using the tripod grasp. She is also able to hold a spoon and feed herself without making a huge mess.…

On the contrary, exercises performed under the guidance of physical therapists serve multiple benefits. Exercise or physical activities are needed in order to build stamina and maintain exercise endurance especially in school going children who engage in physical activities with peers. On November 14, 2016, I had the opportunity to observe the physical, cognitive, and socioemotional developments of a fellow college student, Matt, who is a twenty-year-old early adult. Matt currently has a girlfriend who also goes to Dordt College, however, he does not have any children. The interview was conducted in the lobby of North Hall at Dordt College, which provided the most privacy and an appropriate environment to conduct a forty-five minute interview. Prior to the beginning of the interview, I composed a list of two additional questions that were not on the given interview list to ask my twenty-year-old early adult subject. At this point in their development, many early adults like Matt are exploring which career path they want to follow, exactly what they want their identity to be, and which lifestyle they want to adopt (Santrock, 2014).…
