Animals such as primates and dolphins use simple tooling like sticks and rocks to help assist with daily tasks. The primary difference between these animals and humans is the complexity of the tools in use. Humans have developed both simplistic tooling, such as hammers and knives, as well as more complex objects, such as computers and tractors. The primary reason behind this development of tooling is to compensate for deficiencies in human ability. Examples of this include the use of pulleys, shovels, guns, and cars for lifting heavy objects, digging holes, killing other organisms, and traversing long distances quickly, respectively. The use of complex tooling has allowed humans to thrive and quickly become dominant over all other …show more content…
Most animals are capable of only the absolute simplest of tasks necessary for survival, and those capable of more complex tasks are still only capable of mildly complex tasks such as basic shelter building. Humans, in contrast, perform extraordinarily complex tasks such as performing mathematical calculations, building complex structures like modern housing, and crafting complex tooling such as cars and spaceships. This difference in ability sets humans apart from animals in their ability to survive and thrive in almost any environment. This ability to thrive almost anywhere has allowed humans to climb the food chain and establish themselves as almost a separate existence from animals despite their very similar
