In “Motives for Physical Dating Violence Among College Students: A Gendered Analysis” (Kelley, 2015) , the research’s goal was to determine the reasoning for physical dating violence.
In this research, 221 college students, who have reported being affected by physical dating violence, had been surveyed for what they think is the reasoning behind it.
The results showed three main reasoning: wanting to show their emotions, which women accepted more, for control, which showed men using their reasoning more than women, and self defense, which the perpetrators are usually men and women are usually the victims. “Body Image and HIV Risk
