Working out could be because of one’s will of wanting to improve their body composition or someone has been told by the doctor to stay physically healthier to live longer. Another reason why working out could be challenging could be because the lack of knowledge and the fear of injuring themselves in the process of working out. Motivation was interesting subject to me because we briefly covered it in last week’s class, and this has proven to be something I struggle with personally. “...it has been reported that physically active individuals perceive themselves as having more aims in life, more positive interpersonal relationships, and greater psychological well-being, self-acceptance, and autonomy” (Katarzyna & Konrad, 2016) The topic of motives comes back to a previous week involving a person’s psychosocial health and their way of goal setting. Developing a plan has importance to keep on track as taught in our class but more or equally importantly is having support family and friends to help you with your journey. Being given this self esteem boost by your peers will benefit your mental health while also benefiting your physical health by working out, it’s a mutualism.
